Virgin Atlantic Airways and Continental Airlines
have announced that they are building on their long standing codeshare agreement, by
launching a reciprocal frequent flyer programme partnership. The deal means
that Virgin Atlantic and Continental frequent flyers will be able to accrue and
redeem mileage on each other's networks.
From
today Continental Airlines' OnePass members will be able to earn and redeem their OnePass miles for every Virgin Atlantic flight they take.
In the same way, Virgin Atlantic's flying club members will be able to earn and
redeem miles on Continental Airlines flights. Virgin Atlantic and Continental
Airlines have had a codeshare agreement since 1998.
Steve
Ridgway, Chief Executive of Virgin Atlantic said:
"We are delighted about this reciprocal frequent flyer deal with our long term
codeshare partner Continental Airlines. We see this as a great step forward in
creating greater value, choice and flexibility for both flying club and OnePass
members."
Larry
Kellner, President of Continental Airlines said:
"We are proud to be adding Virgin Atlantic as our newest OnePass partner and
know that OnePass and flying club members will welcome the enhanced travel
benefits provided by this new frequent flyer partnership."
