British Airways
is to suspend its daily service between London Heathrow and Kuwait until further notice with effect from tomorrow,
19th March.
BA
has also announced it will suspend from 20th March its twice daily service from London Heathrow to Tel Aviv until further
notice, and that its flights to Muscat will also remain suspended
temporarily.
British
Airways said the decision was taken in light of UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office
(FCO) travel advice, advising against travel to Kuwait and advising British
nationals to leave Kuwait urgently.
British Airways' flights to Bahrain, Doha, Jeddah, Dubai and Riyadh will continue to operate via Larnaca in Cyprus.
Flights will re-commence from London via Larnaca to Abu Dhabi with effect from
tomorrow, 19th March.
Tomorrow (Wednesday 19th March) the airline will operate only one of the
two daily services from London Heathrow to Tel Aviv. Flight, BA165, will
depart Heathrow at 0900 local time and arrive at Tel Aviv at 1550 local time.
Flight BA164, will depart Tel Aviv at 1650 local time and arrive at Heathrow at
2030 local time. Flight BA163 (Wednesday March 18) from London Heathrow to Tel Aviv and the return flight BA162 have been cancelled.
Mike Street, Director of Customer Service and Operations said: "We have
taken this action in light of the change in Foreign and Commonwealth Office
travel advice. The safety and security of our operation is always our absolute priority and we would not consider operating any flight unless we
were satisfied totally that it was safe to do so".
All passengers booked to travel to Kuwait or Tel Aviv between 19th March
and 30th March will be offered the opportunity to rebook to travel at a later
date, or offered travel with alternative airlines or offered a refund. |
