Alliance Airlines expands Norfolk Island services

Alliance Airlines has launched a third weekly Brisbane – Norfolk Island flight, and will add a second weekly service from Sydney to Norfolk from 21 September.

The new Brisbane flight creates the opportunity of short stay holidays to Norfolk, when combined with existing flights every Saturday and Sunday, while the second Sydney service adds much-needed seasonal capacity.

“Norfolk Island continues to be a popular destination for Australian holidaymakers, and we remain committed to building this market with our industry partners,” said Alliance Airlines Managing Director Mr Scott McMillan.

“We are delighted with the strong support we continue to receive from travel agents and wholesalers for our Norfolk Island services,” said Mr McMillan.

“They have embraced our stable schedules and our ongoing initiatives to develop the short stay market, which we believe – based on our increasing passenger numbers - can increase markedly the number of visitors to the island.

“We are also confident that the short stay options from Brisbane can broaden the demographic of visitors, increasing the number of younger travellers with a desire to experience the island and its many activities, but only a short time in which to do so.”

All Alliance flights to Norfolk Island are operated with spacious Fokker 100 twinjets, configured to seat 100 passengers in a single-class configuration.

The 2 x 3 seat layout offers passengers an 80 per cent chance of a window or aisle seat, and the rear-mounted Rolls Royce engines deliver a very quiet and comfortable ride.

Alliance departs Brisbane at 6.30am on weekends, and 10.15am on Wednesdays, while both Sydney services will depart at 1.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays, enabling passengers from regional NSW, the ACT and other states to connect with the flights.
