The Australian Tourist Commission (ATC) today announced the
appointment of a new Executive General Manager - Western Hemisphere, Andrew McEvoy to oversee operations in New Zealand, the Americas and
Europe.
Mr McEvoy is currently the Deputy Chief Executive and General Manager
Marketing for the South Australian Tourism Commission.
At the ATC, he will be responsible for the overall operations for the Western
Hemisphere including improving consumer awareness in the major markets, strengthening relations with industry and the development of
distribution channels.
ATC Managing Director, Ken Boundy said Andrew would be a strong
addition to the executive team and would help to drive new initiatives across key markets.
"Andrew has over ten years experience in the tourism industry, and this
knowledge combined with his marketing expertise is a welcome addition to
the ATC team," he said.
"He will be responsible for developing new marketing initiatives and
programs for this region, and working alongside the General Managers in-market to ensure the ATC's programs assist operators in Australia to
build their tourism business.
"During these challenging times, Andrew will also be focused on
strengthening relations with the industry to develop new strategies to drive
inbound arrivals to Australia."
Andrew will join the ATC on June 9 2003, and will be based in the Sydney
office.
At the SATC Andrew has been responsible for all elements of destination
marketing including research and product development, for domestic and international programs in seven markets.
He also is currently a board member of the Adelaide Convention and
Tourism Authority and the Wine Tourism Advisory Board.
Prior to the SATC, Andrew held the position of Director of Marketing for the
Melbourne Convention and Marketing Bureau where he was responsible for the development and implementation of advertising campaigns, trade
marketing and event management (this organisation has since evolved into
the Melbourne Convention Bureau, and Destination Melbourne).
He has also held positions with the Ballarat Tourism Board and Tourism
Victoria and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne and
an MA in International Journalism from the City University London. |
