Galileo
International announced today the addition of Pacific Airlines to its computer reservation system. This is the first time Pacific Airlines has
distributed its services through a GDS. This move gives all travel agents in
Vietnam that subscribe to Galileo, as well as travel agents anywhere else in the
world using Galileo's systems, automated access to Pacific Airlines' domestic
and international flight inventory.
Vietnam's second largest airline, Pacific Airlines is returning immediate,
real-time confirmations to Galileo agents' booking requests via Galileo's
Interactive Sell product. The airline is also showing its real-time, last-seat
availability status in availability displays. Furthermore, Galileo is providing an
automated ticketing solution, complete with sales reporting and invoicing
tools, to agencies in Vietnam. The solution increases productivity and allows
agents to provide better customer service.
Mr. Mai Trung Thanh, Deputy Director of Commercial and TransportationDepartment, Pacific Airlines, said: "We warmly welcome this
opportunity to have our flights distributed through Galileo's systems. Prior to
Galileo's involvement, travel agents called Pacific Airlines to make bookings.
Galileo has now provided a fully automated reservation system to our distribution channel. With Galileo's well-established network extending to 116
countries around the world and reaching 47,000 travel agency locations, Pacific Airlines can look forward to far greater brand and market exposure
than ever before. We look forward to Galileo's assistance in providing enhanced productivity for our agents in Vietnam."
Janie Kaung, executive vice president and managing director of Galileo's Asia
Pacific region, added: "We are delighted to have Pacific Airlines join the more
than 500 airlines already participating in Galileo. As the only GDS in Vietnam
offering a global distribution network, we expect to bring important benefits to
this airline and to Vietnam's rapidly growing tourism industry as a whole.
Together with the official opening of our offices in Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi, this
is an important step forward in our determination to build a viable long-term
market presence in this promising market."
This week's announcement of the official opening of Galileo International's
offices in Vietnam means Galileo is now providing electronic global distribution services for the travel industry in 18 Asia Pacific markets. |
