PERNAS Hotel Management (PHM), the management company of six Mutiara
Hotels & Resorts in Malaysia have appointed Mr. Philippe Jaquet as General
Manager of its flagship property, the Mutiara Kuala Lumpur.
A Swiss national, Mr. Jaquet has an extensive background in many facets of
hotel operations. He
attended the hotel management school at Vieux Bois Geneva, in his native
Switzerland. Other educational attainments include courses in Front Office
Management and Strategic Hospitality Management at Cornell University, New
York. In addition, Mr. Jaquet has completed a course in marketing hospitality
services at the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Motel Association in Istanbul, Turkey.
Mr. Jaquet has worked professionally in many varied positions in hotels
including his most recent as Resident Manager of the Mandarin Oriental Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia. Prior to this, he has held various positions in the Swisstel
- The Bosphorus Istanbul, Turkey, Swisstel Seoul, Korea, Swisstel Beijing,
China, Swisstel Cairo, Egypt and The Landmark Hotel, Apartment and Tower
Beijing, China.
Commenting recently in Kuala Lumpur he
said: "Mutiara Kuala Lumpur is a very fine hotel with the longest tradition of
international management of any hotel in Malaysia and it has two of the city's
best restaurants in Fic's and Planter's Inn. The recent renovation of the
property brings with it superb facilities and services and high international
service standards that are the equal of the city's best. I am looking forward to
continuing the excellent work that has been done since it re-opened in April
this year and working with a very dedicated team of professionals."
Married with two children, Mr. Jaquet is a family man who is dedicated to his
work and his fellow associates. He likes to travel and relaxes by diving, horseback riding, snow skiing, squash
and especially discovering new cultural experiences with his family. He
speaks several languages including French, English, Spanish and German.
Mr. Jaquet replaces Mr. Michael Gibb who has left the hotel to take up a new
position in Saudi Arabia. |
