Thai Airways International
has clarified the situation concerning an incident on board THAIs flight TG991 en route Bangkok
Sydney on 15 July 2003.
According to the cabin report, shortly after dinner two male passengers
were involved in an argument which ended up with one of the passengers, a Vietnamese resident of Sydney, being slightly injured. One
male passenger was apparently attacked with a fork. First aid treatment
was given to the injured passenger and the attacker was restrained and put at the rear of the aircraft.
Following THAIs procedure in handling unruly passengers, the Pilot in
Command reported the incident to the concerned authority on ground in Sydney and coordinated with THAIs ground staff for immediate
assistance. An ambulance was waiting at the arrival of the flight and the injured passenger was immediately taken to Sydney hospital for
further treatment where he was diagnosed and was allowed to return home
that same day. The Sydney police held the attacker for further questioning.
THAIs flight TG991 operated by Boeing 747-400 aircraft departed
Bangkok on 15 July 2003 at 18.15 hrs. and arrived in Sydney at 06.15 today (16 July 2003), carrying a total of 361 passengers and 21crew. |
