Boeing and suppliers C&D Aerospace and Aim Aviation have received
Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine's 2003 Charles Ryan Award for delivering more than 4,300 enhanced security commercial airplane
flight-deck doors ahead of a U.S. government deadline.
The award, presented at Aviation Week's Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul
conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., April 15, recognizes "industry-leading
companies and organizations that find new ways to improve operations
and service, profits, efficiency and effectiveness, while sustaining or improving safety and technical proficiency."
The companies share the award for designing, certifying and delivering
enhanced security flight deck doors in just 18 months, enabling customers
using Boeing aircraft to meet the April 9, 2003, deadline for the doors to be
installed.
"We are honored to receive this award," said Mike Cave, senior vice
president, Boeing Commercial Aviation Services. "The enhanced security flight deck door program was a challenging endeavor, but one that was
essential for our customers and the flying public. I'm proud of the team's
outstanding effort." |
