Emirates SkyCargo is stepping up its cargo
capacity to Frankfurt with twice-weekly freighter
services to meet escalating demand from German trade and industry.
On 10th September the special inaugural flight will reach Frankfurt at 1700
to participate in a celebratory welcome and load cargo to Dubai.
Subsequently every Wednesday, Emirates' Boeing 747-400 Freighter will take
to the skies from Dubai at 0810, land in Frankfurt at 1515 hours, depart at
0355 the next day and touchdown at Dubai at 1020 hours. The second weekly
freighter will fly out from Dubai every Sunday at 0840, reach Frankfurt at
1530 hours and turn around the same day at 1830 to reach Dubai at 0200 on
Monday.
Emirates SkyCargo has meticulously worked out freighter schedules to
ensure that its customers in Germany can quickly access various markets in
the Middle East and Far East, including Shanghai, from Frankfurt. Similarly,
its customers in China and Hong Kong are assured of quick freighter connections to Frankfurt.
Germany has large investments and on-going initiatives in the Middle East
and emerging Far Eastern markets, especially in the bustling Chinese economy. It
also exports large volumes of car parts, machinery, manufactured goods and
industrial products to those markets. On the other hand, Germany continues
to be one of the major exporting partners for Far Eastern countries, especially
in the sectors of high quality fashion, luxury foodstuff and other consumer
goods.
Peter
Sedgley, Emirates' Vice President Cargo Commercial Operations said: "We take great pleasure in announcing the launch of our freighter services
to Frankfurt, sharing as we do, very close trade and business ties with the
city and the surrounding area. Coming so close on the heels of our new cargo
services to Moscow and Auckland, we are positive that our twice-weekly freighter service to Frankfurt will further enhance the globalisation of
Germany's trade and manufacturing sectors."
The new freighter services will add volumes over and above the current belly
capacity in the airline's passenger aircraft. Emirates SkyCargo's capacity
to and from Frankfurt will increase to 450 tonnes per week, underlining the
importance of the trade tie-up between Dubai and Frankfurt.
Reinhard Coldewe, Emirates' Cargo Manager North and Central Europe said:
"Our new services to Frankfurt are driven by escalating customer demand which is spilling over the belly-hold capacity in our double daily passenger
aircraft to Frankfurt. Our experience across our network has been that our
services act as catalysts, stimulating trade opportunities both inbound and
outbound."
SkyCargo's freighters
currently serve busy trade routes including Singapore, Hong
Kong, Bangkok, Dusseldorf, Dhaka and Colombo, Amman, and Chennai, all of
which are also Emirates' passenger destinations. The freighters also serve
important cargo-only destinations - Amsterdam, Bangalore, Liege, Shanghai
and Taipei. |
