Horwath Hospitality Investment Advisors, CEO Joel Hiser today
announced that Jim Burba has been named President of the hotel brokerage and advisory firm. Burba will assume his role on February 1,
2004.
"We sought and attracted a person who we truly believe is one of the most
highly respected and well qualified executives in our industry. Jim will
assume a critical and highly visible role in further expanding our company,
which has doubled in size in each of its first two years of operation. We are
gearing up for what we believe will be resurgence in investment activity in
the hotel industry. Jim will oversee business development, broker recruitment and real estate advisory work, amongst other duties for
Horwath Hospitality", Hiser stated.
"His connections and influence in the
hotel investment community and past experience with a large international
hotel brokerage firm will be invaluable as our firm continues to grow with
the accelerating pace of hotel real estate investments. By having Jim in the
role of president, we fully expect to achieve our very aggressive strategic
plans, which call for positioning Horwath Hospitality as the leader in hotel
transactions and advisory services," Hiser added.
Burba most recently served as vice president and worldwide director of
advisory services for a leading hotel architecture firm. He will continue as
president of Burba Hotel Network (BHN), the organizer of some of the world's most
prominent gatherings of the hotel investment industry, including the Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS), which is held in Los Angeles
each January.
About his new position, Burba stated, "I am very excited to join Horwath
Hospitality Investment Advisors. Horwath has been an outstanding brand in our industry worldwide over the last half century, and one that has had
new life breathed into it in here in the U.S. in the past two years. Joel has
put together a great team of transactions specialists and advisors. I look
forward to building on this strong foundation and establishing Horwath as
the most prominent hotel brokerage and advisory group in North America. All indications are that investment interest in our industry is increasing and
we look forward to doing our part to help make deals happen."
