Craig Smith appointed new General Manager of JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa

Craig Smith has been appointed as the new General Manager of the JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa. Previous General Manager, Kevin Beauvais has left Marriott and has joined Royal Garden Resorts as Chief Operating Officer.

Craig is a seasoned professional having spent all his working life (from 1984) with Marriott International. He has a strong background in the rooms division side of the hotel business and also worked in human resources before becoming a general manager. He has won twelve awards since 1998 for excellence in several categories including leadership, operations, finance, customer service and the Renaissance Worldwide General Manager of the Year to name a few.

Craig will commence his new job in Phuket in early November. This will be his sixth assignment as a General Manager with Marriott International. Previously he was General Manager of JW Marriott Hotel and Stellaris Casino in Lima, Peru. His broad experience includes assignments in Brazil, the Dominican Republic, the US Virgin Islands, El Salvador, Mexico and Cancun.

As the son of an American Diplomat he spent most of his childhood traveling the world and has continued his globetrotting form in his business life, but considers Virginia, USA his home. Craig and his wife Maria Luisa have three children. His hobbies include football, scuba diving and mountain climbing.
