For the second year running, Dragonair is sponsoring the Hainan Discovery

offers US$20,000 in prize money, among the highest for triathlon events in
Asia.
"We are delighted to be helping to stage this world class event in China" said
Laura Crampton, Assistant General Manager, Corporate Communication of
Dragonair, "It commands international sporting attention, including television
coverage around the world, and the exposure both for this beautiful part of
China and for Dragonair is excellent.
"The venue is close to Sanya Phoenix International Airport so the flight
connection from Hong Kong is excellent. We look forward to working with the
organizers to provide smooth air transport services and to contributing to the
success of the event."
Dragonair operates return flights between Hong Kong and Sanya Phoenix
International Airport every Friday and Sunday, timing which is well suited to
the weekend schedule of the Triathlon.
Yalong Bay is considered to be
one of the best triathlon venues in Asia, offering
crystal clear water and white sand beaches and 250 athletes are expected to
compete this year. The race distances are 1.8km swim, 60km bike and 12km
run. The 2002 event was won by 5-time World Champion Simon Lessing of Great Britain in a time of two hours and 36 minutes.
