Malaysia Airlines added another international destination to its network with
the launch of its scheduled service between Kuala Lumpur with Manado in North
Sulawesi, Indonesia via Kota Kinabalu today.
Effective today, Malaysia Airlines operates twice weekly flights on Thursdays
and Sundays between Kuala Lumpur and Manado, departing Kuala Lumpur at 0845 hours to reach Manado at 1425 hours with a 55-minute stopover in Kota
Kinabalu. The return flight departs Manado at 1515 hours local time to arrive
Kuala Lumpur at 2040 hours after a stopover in Kota Kinabalu on the same
day.
A two class-configured Boeing 737-400 aircraft with 16 Business and 128
Economy Class seats will be used for this new service operated on a code-share with Garuda Indonesia.
The commencement of this new service reflects Malaysia Airlines' commitment
towards developing more air links in the BIMP-EAGA (Borneo, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines-East ASEAN Growth Area) which provides vast potential
for business and leisure traffic within the region and beyond.
It also enhances Malaysia Airlines' effort to strengthen Kota Kinabalu as one
of its secondary hub in East Malaysia with more point-to-point flights between
the city and other international destinations.
With the introduction of this new service, Manado becomes Malaysia Airlines'
8th Indonesian destination, after Balikpapan, Jakarta, Medan, Surabaya,
Denpasar, Pontianak and Tarakan. |
