Travel News Asia 13 October 2003

Mandarin Oriental, Miami, has introduced a new dimension to its world-class service and facilities: a 20,000-square-foot private white sand beach overlooking glittering Biscayne Bay.

Florida travellers can now enjoy a cool and relaxing stay at the only beach resort in Miami's prestigious Brickell vicinity. The private beach at this luxurious waterfront hotel is situated adjacent to the infinity edge-swimming pool and award-winning spa.

"We are delighted to provide a new haven of relaxation and respite for our guests with exclusive complimentary access to our new beach facilities," said Jorge Gonzalez, general manager.

In keeping with Mandarin Oriental's Asian roots, the beach is adorned with authentic oriental-style furnishings - exotic beds with white cushions and canopies with rich Thai materials and fabrics. Lush palm trees and exotic plants surround the beach creating a tropical paradise. Beach butlers pamper guests as they provide cool towels and mist services. A selection of healthy spa cuisine, frozen fruit delicacies and refreshing tropical drinks are served all day.

A perfect venue for corporate events, retreats, social gatherings and themed-parties, the private beach provides picturesque views of Biscayne Bay and can accommodate catered events for up to 500 people.

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Miami has taken relaxation and indulgence to a new level by offering outdoor massages for singles and couples performed in private cabanas alongside the sparkling waters of the beach. Guests can enjoy the beauty of Miami's charming landscape, the softness of pure white sand and an unforgettable spa treatment. An outdoor, cozy resting area including showers and a footbath is available, as well as comfortable hammocks for true relaxation.

Guests can choose from an array of beachside cabana spa treatments including:

Traditional Full Body Massage - Designed to ease tension, relieve stress and promote a general state of well-being.
Deep Tissue Massage - A deep pressure massage, which releases deep-seated tension and increases energy.
Aromatherapy Massage - A combination of massage techniques and a selection of essential oils promotes balance and optimum health.
Mandarin Cold Stone Therapy - Cold stones are placed on the body throughout the massage to increase circulation and reduce muscle pain.
Thai Massage - A clothed massage involving stretching and rhythmic acupressure to deeply relax and revitalize body and mind.
Shiatsu - A clothed massage focusing on the energy meridians of the body through the use of hands, feet, elbow and knee pressure.

Cabana suites are elegant and exceedingly spacious providing total privacy. Incense, refreshing herbal teas, sweet tropical fruits and soothing music make for the ultimate pampering experience. Treatment prices are US$160 per hour and US$300 per couple per hour.

The 329-room hotel includes two high-energy restaurants, a dynamic Lobby Lounge, M-Bar - a martini bar and champagne bar, extensive meeting and business facilities and some of Miami's most spacious rooms and suites, offering dramatic views of the bay and ocean.
