Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts recently assumed management of the one
year-old hotel situated opposite the American Hospital in Oud Metha,
Dubai and has re-branded the hotel as the Mövenpick Hotel Bur Dubai,
with Mr. Thomas Tapken appointed General Manager.
Following the recent signing of the contract for a future Mövenpick Hotel Pearl
Dubai, to open in 2005, the Group will now operate two hotels in this
vibrant Emirate.
With its advantageous location in Oud Metha, opposite the American Hospital
and close to Lamcy Plaza and Wafi City shopping centres, just 10 minutes
from the Dubai International Airport and the World Trade Centre, the Mövenpick Hotel Bur Dubai will
be a perfect base for both
business and leisure travelers.
The hotel offers 232 modern, spacious guest rooms, including 50 suites and
an Executive Floor with its own lounge and business centre. It is also the
home to the famous Jimmy Dix club/restaurant and Fakhreldine Lebanese restaurant, as well as offering a delightful Italian restaurant, an English-style
pub/restaurant and all-day dining in the lobby level coffee shop.
Recreational facilities include a well-equipped gymnasium, aerobics studio,
steam, sauna and massage rooms and a delightful roof-top swimming pool and jogging track. Use of facilities is free to all hotel guests, and membership
is available to residents of Dubai.
Events and banquets are also well taken care of at the Mövenpick Hotel Bur
Dubai with the Oud Metha Ballroom offering street-level access and space
for up to 600 guests. The pièce de résistance is the revolving hydraulic stage,
which is the only one of its kind in Dubai. Six additional conference rooms and
a pre-function foyer are also available. Ample underground and street-level
parking is available, enhanced by the hotel's valet parking services.
"For Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, Dubai constitutes an extremely important
focal point in the Middle East, a veritable hub for us. We have been represented throughout Egypt and Jordan for many years, and more recently
in Qatar, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, but we always felt a base in the United
Arab Emirates was missing", explained Andreas Mattmüller, Senior Vice-President Middle East.
He added "we are delighted that the Mövenpick
Hotel Bur Dubai will be able to fill this gap and enable us to exceed expectations and delight guests from all over the world".
Mr. Thomas Tapken has been appointed General Manager of the
hotel, bringing with him over 20 years experience in running
luxury hotels throughout Europe, Africa, Thailand and more recently as the
General Manager of the Mövenpick Hotel Doha, and the Sealine Beach Resort,
Qatar. |
