Award winning Six Senses Spas in the Maldives has joined forces with the
renowned Ariya Vada Pharmacy, to bring the ancient Indian healing craft of Ayurveda to
its guests.
Ayurveda, or the Knowledge of Life, is acknowledged as
one of the most ancient traditional and holistic healing systems in India. It covers all aspects of life
and lifestyle and treating mind, body and spirit as one entity to ensure
total harmony and well being. The practice of Ayurveda is taught through
the Ariya Vada Pharmacy that has its centre in Coimbatore, India.
Dr Santosh and Dr Varsha from the Pharmacy in Coimbatore travelled to
the Maldives to work with the in-house doctors, Dr Divya and Dr Vijay Kumar.
Together they took part in the inauguration ceremonies at Soneva Fushi Resort & Spa and Soneva Gili Resort & Spa and provided lectures to
guests and trained all Six Senses Spa therapists. Even the chefs took part,
learning how to cater with delicious healthy food cooked from an Ayurvedic point of view.
The 5000 year old practice of Ayurveda has influenced many healing
systems around the world. The word Ayurveda derives from the Sanskrit –
Ayu means Life and Veda translates into Knowledge – The Knowledge of Life.
Ayurveda is now available on the Six Senses Spa treatment menu and the
philosophy of treating with herbal medicines, oil therapy, powder treatments, massage, yoga and meditation to prevent ill health rather than
cure diseases is the ultimate goal.
Participants will undergo a detailed lifestyle consultation with the doctors
and then depending on each individuals constitution, a rejuvenation therapy will be prescribed. Those therapies include
Abhyanga, Mukhabhyangam, Shiroabhyangam and other specific treatments.
Six Senses Spas are designed with pampering and healing therapies
focused on health, relaxation, beauty, stress release and recuperation from the everyday pressures of an increasingly hectic world. Ayurveda is a natural, holistic healing system that
works on mind, body and spirit. |
