The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing's
Destination Dubai 2003 Video bagged the Golden City Award at the ITB for being the
most complete tourism video in terms of information and presentation at the
ITB in Germany, Berlin today. The video ranked first among the 83 cities who participated in
the event.
DTCM Director Operations and Marketing, Mohammed Khamis bin Hareb
who was present at the awarding ceremony lauded the efforts put in by the
DTCM team for producing an outstanding and exclusive product. "I should commend the efforts all those involved from conceputlisation to direction in
bring out the best. Their efforts and planning have made us feel proud while
receiving this prestigious award," said bin Hareb.
The 12 minutes video provides a visual feast to the viewers as they witness
how modern Dubai has preserved and upheld its traditional past. "The video
comprises every thing including state-of the art hotels like Burj Al Arab,
Jumierah Beach, etc with new and futuristic developments as well as bright
and luxurious shopping malls. Dubai sporting facilities and emirate's Bird
watching tours also find a detailed mention in it. In addition, Desert safaris,
traditional daces, ancient architecture and heritage sites have also been
prominently highlighted," detailed Mr. bin Hareb.
"There has been a sizeable growth of 15.19 per cent in number
of German hotel establishment guests in Dubai. During 2002 their number increased to 171,140 from 148,570, in 2001. There are about 106 German tour
operators promoting the emirate in their itinerary," said Mr. bin Hareb.
Commenting the growth of tourism in Dubai as a whole, Mr. bin Hareb
remarked: "Every year we are registering a growth of 60 percent in the number of hotel establishment guests from each market. This will help us in
reaching the mark of 15 million visitors by the year 2010"
The panel at the award ceremony had 10 reputed judges from Germany
recognised in the filed of direction and production of films and videos. |
