Hertz Campervans has introduced the first of its unique new Aussie
Motorhomes, a small custom-built vehicle with large-campervan features including an inbuilt shower and toilet.
The first
Aussie Motorhome has just rolled off the production line in
Melbourne, less than six months after details of the vehicle were unveiled
at the Australian Tourism Exchange in Melbourne in May.
"The campervan is an ideal way to explore Australia, and the new Aussie
Motorhome adds another option for travellers," said the General Manager of
Hertz Campervans, Mr Grant Goodall.
"Our larger campervans have always been popular, but demand has been
increasing for a self contained small campervan capable of accommodating
no more than three people.
"Couples and small families in particular - from within Australia and
overseas - wanted a vehicle which was large enough to meet their travelling
needs but in a smaller vehicle," said Mr Goodall. "The Aussie Motorhome has
been developed specifically to meet that requirement and is the most luxurious
two-to-three berth campervan on the market, including shower and toilet facilities".
The newest Hertz campervan is based on a Toyota Hi Lux chassis, with two
seats in the driver's cabin and two more in the rear living compartment,
which offers a generous 1.9 metres of headroom and is accessible from the
cabin.
The cabin has been built with the latest state of the art material being
half the weight of that used previously, but three times as strong.
In addition to the shower and toilet, standard features include a double and
a single bed, internal and external gas stoves, a refrigerator, a microwave
oven, gas hot water, a colour television, a radio/cassette/CD unit, a wardrobe,
external rollout shade awning and chairs - and even a kitchen sink.
Each Aussie Motorhome carries bedding, linen, towels, crockery, cutlery,
plus LP gas cylinders and 55 litres of water, and has its own 12 volt lighting
system.
And fuel capacity of 77 litres enables the Aussie Motorhome to travel up to
400 kilometres at speeds of up to 90 km/h.
Initially, Hertz Campervans will introduce 60 Aussie Motorhomes, available
for rental from Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Broome,
Perth and Alice Springs.
"Although we have only just received the first Aussie Motorhome, it was
rented out almost immediately," said Mr Goodall. "We also have strong advance bookings for these vehicles in the Christmas - New Year period, and
growing enquiries from travel agents and individual renters for beyond that
period."
Rental rates start at AUD$153 per day for a minimum of five days. |
