The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing
(DTCM) has joined hands with the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) to promote the
Dubai exhibition business more assertively around the world starting off with an international
broadcast strategy that will generate enhanced coverage of the forthcoming
GITEX 2003 (19th to 23rd October).
"While people in the region are aware of the amazing technological
developments taking place in Dubai and the UAE and the sound investment opportunities on offer, we need to persistently raise awareness levels
worldwide through highlighting events such as GITEX," said DTCM Director
General, Khalid A. bin Sulayem.
He observed that exhibitions attract companies from all over the world to
participate in Dubai, showcasing their latest products and developments and
are ideal points to help promote both the emirate and its attractiveness as a
commercial centre that hosts some of the biggest exhibitions in the world.
The unique partnership between the DTCM and DWTC
is expected to raise the profile of GITEX worldwide as well as facilitate the exhibition and its exhibitors
to reach a wide range of audiences and reinforce Dubai's status as the IT hub
of the Middle East.
"This broadcast management project will utilize all current electronic news
gathering / management techniques and includes three main areas of expertise that are integrally linked including tailored
content production, dedicated one-on-one broadcast media relations in each market as well as
delivery of content via satellite and digitally online before, during and after the
event," said DWTC Director General Mubarak bin Fahad.
He noted that the DWTC and DTCM had discussed the potential of combining
forces to promote the MICE business in Dubai earlier this year and this project
marks the culmination of a series of dialogues to raise the emirate's profile as
a top class destination for exhibitions.
The project was initiated following a lot of planning and extensive cross
liaison between the DTCM and DWTC stretching over a couple of months and
is designed to provide a boost to the exhibition business in Dubai and assist
in emphasizing the emirate's growing importance as a top international exhibition venue.
A wide range of industries use Dubai as a platform to access the booming
Middle East markets and either sell directly to consumers, or more importantly,
make contact with potential agents and distributors.
From cars to cosmetics, boats to baby care products, freight to fashion to
furniture, education to electronics, engineering, travel and much more, a variety of
trade fairs provide a showcase for manufacturers from around the world.
GITEX 2003 will feature all facets of the Information Technology industry.
With more than 35,000 square metres of gross exhibition space already sold in
eight interconnected halls the event is set to be the biggest ever.
Leading IT companies have indicated strong enthusiasm in GITEX Dubai 2003
with industry leaders like IBM, Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, HP, Samsung, Toshiba, Canon, NEC, Acer, LG Electronics, Panasonic, Sony, Fujitsu, Sanyo,
Etisalat, DAFZA, Thuraya and Epson among others securing a strong presence at the show. |
