Spurred on by the relaxation of travel measures that
have led to increasing demand, Thai AirAsia is aiming to
reinstate all of its flight routes from Bangkok this March, followed
by the resumption of all its domestic flights across Thailand by
April.
AirAsia Thailand Chief Executive Officer, Santisuk
Klongchaiya, said, "We are very pleased with the close cooperation
shown by all parties and the improving situation in major tourism
cities such as Chiang Mai, Nan, Nakhon Panom, Udon Thani, Krabi
and Phuket, which have lifted their 14-day quarantine requirement.
The positive sign, coupled with growing confidence in travel among
the public has prompted Thai AirAsia to begin reintroducing
flights."
The second wave of
COVID19 infections in Thailand led to the airline streamlining its
operations as travel ground to a halt.
“However, with the improving situation and the
roll out of vaccines, we are confident of returning to full-scale
service soon, closely adhering to health protocols and
requirements for our staff and guests,” Mr. Santisuk said. “We will continue to work
closely with the Tourism Authority of Thailand and members of the
travel industry to offer promotions whenever travel restrictions
are lifted. With the long Songkran holiday coming up in April, we
look forward to resuming service on all our domestic routes to
provide more opportunities for the tourism sector as a whole.”
AirAsia advises customers to carefully review the
conditions for
travel set by each province and travellers should be aware
that they need to wear a face mask throughout their journey and
strictly adhere to all public health requirements.
