Volkert Geertsen Appointed GM of sala Bang Pa-in, Thailand

SALA Hospitality has appointed Volkert Geertsen as Cluster General Manager of the sala Bang Pa-in, the latest addition to the group's sala boutique portfolio in Thailand.

Joining Volkert at the 24-key resort is Jitti Sukee as Cluster Hotel Manager and Fernando Roman as Cluster Executive Chef.

The sala Bang Pa-in is scheduled to start welcoming guests in March 2021.

Volkert, a Dutch citizen, will oversee sala Bang Pa-in in addition to his current responsibilities for sala rattanakosin Bangkok, sala lanna Chiang Mai, sala ayutthaya and sala khaoyai. He has over 20 years of hospitality industry experience, 15 of which have been in Thailand and Southeast Asia.

Khun Jitti, a Thai national and seasoned industry professional who specialises in F&B, is currently Hotel Manager at sala rattanakosin Bangkok, a popular riverside hotel in the historical heart of Thailand’s capital city. As Cluster Hotel Manager, he will now combine these responsibilities with the new hotel in Bang Pa-in, bringing over two decades of expertise to the role.

Fernando, a South African national, is Cluster Executive Chef for sala boutique. His talent and creativity have helped to elevate the collection’s four hotels to be among the most desired dining destinations in their markets, and he will now work his magic at sala Bang Pa-in, developing original culinary concepts and mouth-watering menus.

Nestled on an island in the Chao Phraya River 60km north of Bangkok and just moments from the Summer Palace, sala Bang Pa-in will feature 24 river-facing rooms and pool villas.
