Thai AirAsia's Domestic Operations Fast Approaching Pre-COVID19 Capacity

(31 Oct 2021) Thai AirAsia's CEO says the airline is fast approaching pre-COVID19 capacity levels.

As December is traditionally a peak travel period and in line with increased demand, Thai AirAsia has added more flights from both Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports to popular destinations such as Chiang Mai, Nan, Phuket, Hat Yai and Nakhon Si Thammarat, among others.

The airline's CEO, Santisuk Klongchaiya, said, “We have seen an overwhelming response from the public to the government’s initiatives in promoting domestic travel, which AirAsia has been strongly supporting. Our domestic operations in Thailand are already fast approaching pre-COVID19 capacity levels and with the upcoming holiday season, we are confident of exceeding 85% load factors for December.

AirAsia recommends passengers to check-in online via its website, mobile app or kiosks and to use its QR Code system for contactless check-in and luggage loading. Click to enlarge.

The low cost carrier is doing all it can to ensure guests that it will continue to maintain stringent safety measures on every flight by performing temperature screenings, requiring face masks and sanitising its aircraft cabins.

"As the largest low cost airline in Thailand, AirAsia contributes significantly to tourism and the local economy, not to mention the spin off effects of air travel which disperse the revenue benefits nationwide. We have witnessed much pent up demand for domestic air travel over recent months and continue to increase frequency across our entire network, with 100% of capacity now on sale for December compared to the same time last year,” Mr. Santisuk added.

All AirAsia passengers are required to bring their own masks and to wear them properly before, during and after the flight, including during check-in and bag collection. Guests without a mask will be denied boarding.
