Ascot United's fans had to wait until the final
seconds of the match against Banstead Athletic
to see their team win the first game of the new decade.
Ian Davies smashed the ball into the back of the
net from the penalty spot in the 92nd minute, after James
Richardson was ruled to have been pulled to the ground.
It was a tight game, and while Ascot will
certainly feel
that they deserved the three points, both sides missed some great
opportunities to score.
Ascot United, now top of the league, will next play at home on 11
January against Colliers Wood who are seventh, with two games in
hand. Kick off is at 3pm.
