The British & Irish Lions have appointed Tim
Percival as Head of Communications for the Tour to South Africa in
2021.
Percival joins on temporary secondment from Gallagher
Premiership club Northampton Saints where he is Director of
Marketing & Communications.
Percival brings extensive
media and communications expertise to the role having previously
worked as the England Team’s Communications Manager under Eddie
Jones, as well as Head of Corporate Communications at Wasps.
“With just under a year to go until the Lions depart for South
Africa, we are delighted to have secured someone of Tim’s calibre
to join our leadership team,” said Ben Calveley, British and Irish
Lions Managing Director. “Tim has a wealth of
communications experience in top-level sport and will have a major
role to play in the forthcoming Tour. We are very
grateful to Northampton Saints for their flexibility and
generosity in agreeing his secondment.”
Percival joins
recent Lions recruits Tom Halsey (Commercial Director), Alan
Phillips (Operations Director), Shane Whelan (Director of Digital,
Marketing & Communications) and Thelma O’Driscoll (Chief Financial
Officer) as planning for the Tour continues apace.
