United Airlines to Launch Singapore - Hong Kong - San Francisco Flights

United Airlines will launch five flights per week between Singapore (SIN) and San Francisco (SFO) via Hong Kong (HKG) on Wednesday, 8 July.

United’s SIN-HKG-SFO route will be operated by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft which features 48 seats in United Polaris business class, 88 seats in United Economy Plus and 116 in United Economy.

“As travel demand is set to gradually return and cargo demand between Asia and the U.S. remains strong, United is excited to get back to reconnecting customers in our two major Asia Pacific markets of Hong Kong and Singapore with the prime U.S. West Coast gateway of San Francisco,” said Marcel Fuchs, United’s MD - International Sales.

The airline first started flights to Hong Kong in 1983 and Singapore in 1986.

The airline introduced United CleanPlus in May, which includes the following new policies and procedures:

At the airport:

* Asking all passengers to complete a “Ready-to-Fly” health self-assessment during their check-in process
* Installing sneeze guards at check-in and gate podiums
* Encouraging use of the United app for contactless travel assistance and more
* Promoting social distancing with floor decals to help customers stand 6 feet apart
* Rolling out touchless check-in for customers with bags
* Disinfecting high-touch areas such as door handles, handrails, elevator buttons, telephones and computers
* Providing hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes
* Allowing customers to self-scan boarding passes
* Boarding fewer customers at a time

On United’s aircraft:

* Providing individual hand sanitizer wipes for customers
* Requiring all customers to wear face coverings
* Providing onboard items like pillows and blankets upon request
* Disinfecting high-touch areas, like tray tables and armrests, before boarding
* Reducing contact between flight attendants and customers during snack and beverage service
* Ensuring aircraft cleaning standards meet or exceed CDC guidelines
* Aiming to give more personal space on board when possible
* Using electrostatic spraying on all mainline aircraft before departure for enhanced cabin sanitation
