Langham has signed an agreement to expand its
portfolio of luxury hotels in Europe.
Scheduled to open in 2023, The Langham,
Venice will be the brand’s first property in Italy.
With its direct frontage on the Venetian Lagoon,
the 138-key hotel is located on the island of Murano, long revered
for its centuries-old tradition of glass making.
The Langham,
Venice will be housed in the former Casino Mocenigo which can
trace its legacy to the early 1600s. The historic building is an
important illustration of Venetian architecture enriched by
impressive frescoes with classical themes dedicated to music,
poetry and love.
“Venice remains one of the
world’s leading leisure destinations and we are delighted to have
found such an exceptional site on which to develop our first hotel
in Italy,” said Stefan Leser, chief executive officer of Langham
Hospitality Group. “The Langham, Venice will provide an exclusive
leisure experience that blends the finest elements of the local
Venetian culture and heritage with personalized intuitive service
that are the hallmarks of The Langham luxury experience.”
Milan-based architecture and design studio Matteo Thun & Partners has been appointed
to oversee the extensive renovations at The Langham, Venice.
A
defining architectural feature of The Langham will be the
courtyard which will showcase the outdoor swimming pool and
manicured garden as well as inviting outdoor dining spaces.
When the hotel opens, guests can look forward to two
restaurants serving a selection of cuisines and a cooking school
where guests can learn the art of fine Italian cuisine. Alfresco
bars, one of which will be located on the rooftop, will set the
scene for social celebrations, large and small.
Also featured at the hotel will be the group’s signature Chuan Spa
providing wellness therapies and treatments based on the ancient
healing philosophies of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM,) a
fully-equipped fitness centre, a ballroom, and
multifunction rooms.
“The
opening of The Langham, Venice will be an important milestone for
the brand as we continue to cultivate our presence in Europe. We
look forward to elevating our guests’ extraordinary experiences at
this spectacular hotel, and we are proud to play a part in
upholding the fine traditions of Venetian luxury hospitality,”
added Mr. Leser.
The Langham, Venice will complement the group's
two other hotels in Europe, namely The Langham, London and The
Langham Nymphenburg Residence, Munich. The company also has hotels
and residences in Paris, Berlin, Tokyo, San Francisco, Jakarta,
Gold Coast, and Chengdu in the development pipeline.
