Thai Airways Cancels Flights to Australia, Europe and Regionally

Thai Airways is to temporarily suspend flights to Europe, Australia and within the region as follows:

Domestic and Regional

Starting today, 25 March 2020, Thai Airways has cancelled flights to/from: Beijing, Chengdu, Colombo, Denpasar, Dhaka, Guangzhou, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong, Islamabad, Jakarta, Karachi, Kathmandu, Kunming, Lahore, Nagoya, Osaka, Phnom Penh, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Taipei, Tokyo (Narita and Haneda), Vientiane, Xiamen and Yangon.

Thai's domestic flights to Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Krabi have been transferred to Thai Smile.

Australia

Starting on 27 March 2020, Thai Airways flights to Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney have been cancelled.

Europe

Thai Airways will cancel flights to Brussels, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London, Moscow, Oslo, Paris and Stockholm from 1 April 2020.

The cancellations are currently expected to last until 31 May 2020, but this may be extended depending on the situation of the COVID19 outbreak around the world and the subsequent border closures.

Before these latest cancellations, Thai Airways had already suspended flights to Auckland, Bengaluru, Busan, Chennai, Dubai, Fukuoka, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Milan, Mumbai, Muscat, New Delhi, Rome, Sapporo, Sendai and Vienna.

Travellers holding Thai Airways and Thai Smile codeshare flights air tickets, issued before 25 March 2020 with the following date of travel, can convert unused tickets to one-year valid travel voucher without fee and surcharges:

- Asian Routes during 25 March – 31 May 2020
- European, Australian and New Zealand Routes during 1 April – 31 May 2020.

Royal Orchid Plus (ROP) members holding award tickets issued to travel during 25 March – 31 May 2020 can get a full re-credit of miles or change the travel date without any fee or charge with expired miles extended until 30 September 2020.

Thai Airways will still operate cargo service on some routes and will operate charter flight if there are stranded passengers or as requested by government agencies.
