IHG Signs Crowne Plaza Hotel on Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok, Thailand

InterContinental Hotels Group has signed an agreement with Sukhumvit Centre Point to take over the management of the Grand Sukhumvit Bangkok hotel in 2021.

The 386-room hotel will rebrand as the Crowne Plaza Bangkok Grand Sukhumvit by the end of 2021 following an extensive refurbishment.

There are also plans to increase the number of rooms, but IHG has declined to tell TravelNewsAsia.com exactly how many additional rooms they expect to add to the property by 2023. The company would only say that the hotel will be Thailand’s largest Crowne Plaza, and the flagship for the brand in the country. IHG currently manages two Crowne Plaza hotels in Thailand - the 243-room Crowne Plaza Bangkok Lumpini Park and the 227-room Crowne Plaza Phuket Panwa Beach.

The Crowne Plaza Bangkok Grand Sukhumvit will feature a ballroom, boardroom, four meeting rooms, an Executive Club Lounge, two dining outlets, a swimming pool, fitness room and a spa.

The hotel is located near the Nana BTS Station.

IHG has 31 hotels in Thailand operating under seven brands: Six Senses, InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and Staybridge Suites, with another 29 in the pipeline, which includes brand entries for Kimpton and voco.
