Vietnam Airlines Operates UK Repatriation Flight

Vietnam Airlines, with support from the Vietnamese and UK governments, operated a repatriation flight for more than one hundred UK citizens stranded in Vietnam and Cambodia, earlier this week.

The flight took off from Phnom Penh on Monday evening (13 April), made a brief stop in Hanoi to pick up more UK citizens, and then departed for London.

All UK citizens arriving in Hanoi from Phnom Penh stayed inside the airport, had their body temperature and health checked, and then remained in a special zone before boarding the flight to London.

Passengers were mostly tourists and included a few who have recovered from COVID19 after receiving treatment in Vietnam.

The flight to the UK also carried face masks from the government and people of Vietnam to their UK counterparts to assist in the prevention and control of the COVID19 pandemic.

 Vietnam Airlines used the flight to repatriate some of its own citizens stranded in the UK. The return flight, which landed at Van Don International Airport near Ha Long on the morning of 15 April, included students under the age of 18, the  elderly, and disadvantaged.

 The flight was the 6th repatriation service operated by Vietnam Airlines for Vietnamese nationals during the COVID19 pandemic.
