Air New Zealand has confirmed that it will operate a special flight between
Wellington and Hokitika to help get festival goers to the
Wildfoods Festival in March.
The Grabaseat Hokitika Wildfoods Festival Flight
will depart Wellington at 10:00 on Saturday, 13 March, with the
service returning the same day at 18:25. The flight will be
operated by one of the airline's 68-seat ATR aircraft.
Flight and ticket packages are available for sale
via Air New Zealand's Grabaseat website for $299, including
transfers to and from Hokitika Airport.
There is also an option
for people to fly from Auckland and connect onto the Wellington-Hokitika
Wildfoods flight.
Air New Zealand Chief Customer and Sales Officer
Leanne Geraghty said the Hokitika Wildfoods Festival is one of the
biggest events on the West Coast calendar.
"We're proud to get behind this iconic event which
is unique to the West Coast. Events like the Wildfoods Festival
give Kiwis a great reason to travel domestically and support our
regions," Leanne said. "By operating this special flight between Wellington and Hokitika we can help get even more people to the event and
experience the West Coast."
Mayor of Westland, Bruce Smith, added, "We've enjoyed
a long-standing relationship with Air New Zealand and it's great
they will once again support the Wildfoods Festival with a special
service. I look forward to welcoming guests when they arrive in
Hokitika on 13 March."
