The
five-storey, 125-room Mercure Canberra Belconnen is now taking
bookings for stays from 22 January 2020.
The new-build hotel, designed by May + Russell
Architects, is currently
under development at the Canberra Labor Club precinct on Cameron
Avenue.
The hotel
will adjoin the club’s precinct, accessible via a connecting
walkway, allowing guests easy access to all F&B, and
entertainment facilities within the club.
Guestrooms will each include a plush bed, desk, Smart TV, Chromecast and complimentary Wi-Fi.
The
hotel will feature a gym, laundry facilities, lobby lounge, F&B
outlets, event spaces and onsite parking.
Simon McGrath, Accor Pacific’s
Chief Operating Officer, said, “We’re delighted to bring the Mercure brand to Belconnen
in partnership with Canberra Labor Club ... We are confident that the Mercure
hotel will provide much-needed new hotel supply for Canberra and
we look forward to welcoming the first guests to Mercure Canberra
Belconnen.”
Mercure Canberra Belconnen is located in the
town centre of Belconnen, just 8km from the Canberra CBD, a short
stroll from Westfield Belconnen, key government offices and within close proximity to the Belconnen business district,
Calvary Hospital, University of Canberra, as well as the AIS and
GIO Stadium. The hotel is a 20-minute drive from
Canberra Airport.

Club’s Chief Executive, Arthur Roufogalis, said, “We are really
