IATA Airline Industry Retailing Symposium
2019 - Interview with Stephan Copart
IATA hosted its second annual Airline Industry Retailing Symposium, formerly part
of the World Passenger Symposium (WPS), in Bangkok, Thailand, from
29-31 October 2019.
Around 45 people from
IATA - including those who were primarily in Bangkok for the
industry committee meetings, as well as 7 business partners - joined hundreds of high-level delegates who had flown in from around the
world to network, share ideas and learn more about the latest ideas, trends
and solutions in airline retailing and distribution.
Steven Howard of TravelNewsAsia.com was at the
the IATA AIR Symposium and used the opportunity to sit down with
Stephan Copart, IATA's Head of Projects & Innovation, to learn
more about the event.
In this interview, filmed on 30 October 2019,
Stephan tells us why Bangkok was chosen over other cities in the
region, what support they have had from TCEB and Thai Airways, and
what the AIR Symposium is all about.
You will also learn who attends the AIR
Symposium, how many delegates attended
this year in Bangkok, how that compares to 2018 in Rome, whether IATA will be hoping for more next
year, how technology was used to enhance the show experience
for delegates and what IATA's new Matchmaker app is all about.
Stephan tells us how the three components that
make up the AIR Symposium differ, and where, and when, the event
will take place next year. All that and much, much more in the HD
video and podcast below.
It should be noted that as part of its drive for a more sustainable
future for the aviation industry, IATA offset the carbon footprint
of each IATA delegate who travelled to the event.
