IHG to Rebrand Srivikorn Group’s Hotel Next to Madejski Stadium in Reading, England

InterContinental Hotels Group has signed a management agreement with the Srivikorn Group to open a voco hotel in Reading, England.

Currently operating as the Millennium Madejski Hotel Reading, IHG is scheduled to rebrand the hotel as the voco Reading by the end of the year.

Set within the business district, the 201-room hotel is located right next to the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre and adjacent to Madejski Stadium, home of Reading FC and London Irish RFC.

Pimol Srivikorn, Vice Chairman, Srivikorn Group, said, “It is great to expand our partnership with IHG and enter the UK market. voco is an exciting brand, providing a unique offering that complements our existing IHG assets in Asia. IHG currently has 353 hotels operating under eight brands in the UK, with a further 21 in the pipeline.

The momentum of voco is proving to be a great success in the UK following the recent openings of voco Cardiff St David’s voco Solihull and voco Oxford Thames. This signing also sees us continue to grow our managed estate, which is a priority in our home market. IHG currently manage 18 properties and we’re looking forward to working with our partners to expand that portfolio in the future.”

The Srivikorn Group was established in 1962 by Mr. Chalermbhand Srivikorn and Khunying Sasima Srivikorn. Today, the company has a wide-ranging portfolio of businesses, from hospitality and property development to manufacturing of sanitaryware (American Standard Plc), ceramics (Thai-German Ceramic Industry Plc.), and carpets (Thailand Carpet Manufacturing Plc.). Recent international expansion has seen Srivikorn Group enter the U.K., growing its hospitality business to include the hotel in Reading mentioned above, the acquisition of Alstons Furniture Group, and DM Midland Group, two of the major upholstered furniture companies in the market.
