UHD Video Interview with Organiser of Phuket
Raceweek, Byron Jones
The 16th Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek came
to a thrilling end on Sunday, but with totally unprecedented and
unpredictable weather conditions wreaking havoc on race
schedules, it was not smooth sailing for organiser, Byron Jones.
In this exclusive interview, filmed at the Cape Panwa Hotel on 20 July 2019, Steven Howard of TravelNewsAsia.com
asks Byron about Phuket Raceweek, how 2019 compares to previous
years, where sailors are coming from, and how he would like to see
the event grow and develop.
We discuss technology, and you will learn
how one app in particular was used to improve communications
between the organiser's team and sailors - both on land and at
sea.
Byron tells us what is being done to
promote the event in Australia, as well as to the growing number of
sailors in wealthy regional markets such as Singapore, Malaysia,
Hong Kong and mainland China.
We also discuss boats and whether there are
sufficient charter boats in Phuket to support the growth of Phuket
Raceweek, as well as what categories of boats Byron would like to
see expand.
We talk about what the event brings to
Phuket, how long Cape Panwa Hotel has signed up to be the title
sponsor and host, and you will learn how you can save money on
next year's Phuket Raceweek. All that and much, much more in the UHD video and podcast
below.
