Finnair Signs Codeshare Agreement with China Southern Airlines

Finnair has signed a codeshare agreement with China Southern Airlines that will come into effect on 1 June 2019.

The deal covers Finnair flights between Guangzhou and Helsinki, and adds five new destinations to Finnair´s network in China. Customers will be able to connect with China Southern from Guangzhou to Changsha (CSX), Chongqing (CKG), Hangzhou (HGH), Nanjing (NKG), Sanya (SYX), Wenzhou (WNZ), Xiamen (XMN) and Xi´an (XIY).

In addition, China Southern code CZ will be added to Finnair flights from Helsinki to several popular destinations in Europe: Amsterdam (AMS), Billund (BLL), Copenhagen (CPH), Goteborg (GOT), London (LHR), Paris (CDG), Riga (RIX) and Stockholm (ARN).

“We´re very excited about this first step of our partnership with China Southern. This codeshare opens up new destinations in China for our customers on the Helsinki-Guangzhou route, which we just extended to year-round operations. China is among our top markets globally, and we are delighted to be able to offer more destinations to our customers from Guangzhou onwards,” said Mr Christian Lesjak, Senior Vice President, Network and resource management at Finnair. “During this summer, we operate up to 42 weekly flights between Greater China and Helsinki, including four flights to Guangzhou.”

Finnair recently moved to the new Terminal 2 in Guangzhou Baiyun Airport. Terminal 2 is optimised and designed for smooth transfer traffic. This this move also supports the codeshare collaboration between Finnair and China Southern, who offers extensive domestic connections from Guangzhou onwards.
