Airbnb has appointed Sean Joyce as the company’s
first Chief Trust Officer.
As Chief Trust Officer, Sean will be responsible
for developing and implementing strategies that ensure Airbnb is
one of the most trusted communities in the world. His efforts will
focus on identity and reputation, online and offline safety and
fraud prevention, and partnerships with law enforcement.
Sean joins Airbnb from PwC, where he was a
Principal in their Advisory Practice, the U.S. and Americas

Cybersecurity and Privacy leadership team.
Prior to his time in the private sector, Sean

including leading the International Operations Division, where he
oversaw 75 locations overseas.
Sean is based in San Francisco and reports to
Airbnb's Chief Operating Officer, Belinda Johnson. He also serves
on the company's Executive Team.
“Airbnb’s hosts and guests are not a product -
they are our community and we have a responsibility to protect
their trust,” said Belinda Johnson. “Sean has unmatched experience
spearheading game-changing trust and privacy initiatives and
protecting people’s safety and security. Our vision is for Airbnb
to be the most trusted platform in the world, and I am thrilled
that he is joining us to lead our work towards that goal.”
Sean is a recipient of the Director of National
Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal, the CIA Director’s
Award, the DIA’s Director’s Award, the FBI Meritorious Medal, and
the 2011 Presidential Rank Award.
A Boston native, Sean holds degrees from Boston
College and Dartmouth’s Amos Tuck School of Business.
“Trust is a foundational element to every
interaction in our lives. It is what Airbnb's community is built
on and what enables the sense of belonging between people from
different communities and cultures,” said Sean Joyce, Chief Trust
Officer at Airbnb. “My goal is to help make Airbnb the most
trusted online and offline community in the world, and I am
incredibly excited to work with the team at Airbnb to achieve
this.”
