Finnair has extended its seasonal Guangzhou
route to year-round operations and will operate the Helsinki -
Guangzhou route with two flights per week during the 2019/2020
winter season.
Finnair launched the Guangzhou route as a
summer route in 2016, and as of this spring, will serve the route
with Airbus A350 aircraft, adding both passenger and cargo
capacity.
The airline operates the route with four
flights per week during the summer season.
“The extension of the operating
season of our Guangzhou route is a logical next step in our Asian
strategy,” said Christian Lesjak, SVP, Network and Resource
Management, Finnair. “Travel between Finnair’s Chinese
destinations and Europe is increasing, and we are happy now to be
able to offer year-round operations to our passengers and cargo customers.”
Finnair will also operate from the new Terminal
2 in Guangzhou, a move which will support the planned codeshare
collaboration between Finnair and China Southern Airlines.
Finnair currently serves seven destinations
in Greater China – Beijing,
Shanghai, Nanjing, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Xi´an and Hong Kong, and will in
the 2019 summer season operate up to 42
weekly frequencies to China from its Helsinki hub.
