Singapore has launched a beta version of its new
“SG Arrival Card” e-Service.
The system started as a trial in October 2018
and allows foreign visitors, travelling via select transport
operators, to submit an electronic arrival
card up to 14 days ahead of their arrival in Singapore, instead of completing the traditional
paper-based disembarkation/embarkation card.
The traveller then only needs to present their passport for immigration
clearance upon arrival, as the Immigration & Checkpoints
Authority’s system will already
have the electronic arrival cards which they submitted in advance.
For this trial, only foreign visitors travelling
to Singapore via select air, bus and ferry transport operators can
submit electronic arrival cards via the “SG Arrival Card”
e-Service or mobile application. All other visitors are still
required to complete the paper-based disembarkation/embarkation
cards.
The transport operators are:
Airlines – AirAsia, Jetstar Asia, Cathay Pacific and Singapore
Airlines Coach – Transtar Travel Ferries – BatamFast
Ferries, Bintan Resort Ferries, Horizon Fast Ferry, and Majestic
Fast Ferry
The “SG
Arrival Card” is available as an e-Service at ICA’s
website and can also be
downloaded as a free mobile application from Apple App Store and
Google Play.
Users of the mobile application will have the option
of scanning their passport biodata pages so they do not need to manually key in the information. The
mobile application will also save previously submitted information
for use on subsequent trips to Singapore.
The
electronic arrival card is expected to completely replace the
paper-based disembarkation/embarkation card by 2021.
