Hong Kong International
Airport (HKIA) handled 5 million passengers in November 2019, a
year-on-year decrease of 16.2%.
Flight movements dropped 8.3% to
32,510 when compared to the same month last year and cargo throughput fell
3.4% year-on-year to 450,000 tonnes.
During November, transfer/ transit traffic
showed strong year-on-year growth of 6% while Hong Kong resident
travel increased 5%.
Passenger volume continued to be affected by
weak visitor traffic, with passengers to and from the Mainland and
Southeast Asia experiencing the most significant decreases.
While overall cargo exports recorded 1% decline
year on year, cargo exported to Japan and Europe saw positive
growth among key trading regions.
Over the first 11 months of the year, HKIA
handled 65.8 million passengers and 385,730 flight movements,
representing year-on- year decreases of 3.4% and 1.3%,
respectively. Cargo throughput fell 6.6% to 4.4 million tonnes
compared to the same period last year.
On a 12-month rolling basis, passenger volume
and flight movements saw declines of 3% and 1% to 72.4 million and
422,835, respectively. Cargo throughout dropped to 4.8 million, a
6.4% decrease compared to the same period last year.
