It will come as no surprise to those who know
of the 'secret bar' at the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel Seoul, that it is
has won an award as the Best Bar in Korea, and one of the very best in
Asia.
Recognised on
the coveted Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2019 list, Charles H. - the official name
of the bar, received the
impressive award after being voted as such by an Academy of more than 200 drinks
industry experts, bartenders and cocktails specialists across
Asia.
Leading the highly skilled team
at Charles H. is Head Bartender Keith Motsi, who joined
from Four Seasons Hotel Beijing this year with a goal to
successfully position the bar as one of the best destinations in
the cocktail industry.
“We are thrilled to be recognised as the Best
Bar in Korea by Asia’s 50 Best Bars, the most anticipated ranking
for bar professionals and cocktail aficionados across Asia,” said
Keith Motsi. The Charles H. team have been dedicated to delivering
new and exciting bar experiences for our guests and it is a great
honour to have their efforts recognised in this remarkable way.”
With a nod to the prohibition-era speakeasies of
New York, Charles H. at Four Seasons Hotel Seoul was designed by AvroKo,
and opened its doors in October 2015. The décor of the bar is
inspired by the intricate subterranean spaces of 1920s and 1930s
New York, and incorporates palette and details inspired by the
Korean traditional royal dress and modern Korean metalwork to
create a sense of exoticism, glamour and romance previously unseen
in Seoul’s speakeasy scene.
The bar is accessed through a secret and
nondescript doorway and offers a selection of cocktails inspired
by the travel and writings of Charles H. Baker.
