Great Dane Airlines has become a customer of
Embraer E-Jets.
Based at Aalborg Airport in Denmark, the Danish
airline will begin operations in June with two E195 jet aircraft.
As well as offering charter services, Great Dane will initially serve routes to Chania,
Mallorca, Varna, and Rhodes. Soon after, the airline plans to add
Dublin, Edinburgh, and Nice to its network.
Both aircraft have been
purchased from Stobart Air.
Thomas Møller, Founder and CEO of Great Dane
Airlines said, “Our mission is to provide the much needed
connectivity so far denied to Northern Jutland as these popular
routes are too thin to support large narrow body operations
profitably. Embraer’s expertise in regional operations and our
common focus on ‘right-sizing’ makes their E-Jets the perfect
solution to developing these routes.”
Powered by two General Electric CF34 engines,
the E195 has a range of 2,300 nm.
“Embraer’s range of commercial aircraft is
specifically designed to offer the right-sized aircraft to develop
new routes and markets, boosting connectivity; goals we share with
Great Dane,” said Martyn Holmes, Vice President, Europe, Russia &
Central Asia, Embraer Commercial Aviation. “Embraer is proud to
welcome Great Dane Airlines to the ever expanding base of E-Jets
operators in Europe.”
