Awesome Trip - Interview with Mark Corbett,
Chief Innovation Officer, at IATA AIRS 2019
Exclusive interview with Mark Corbett, Chief
Innovation Officer, at Awesome Trip.
In this interview, filmed on 30 October 2019
at the IATA Airline Industry Retailing Symposium 2019 in Bangkok,
Mark tells us why IATA invited Awesome Trip to the event, what he
hoped to achieve from attending, what sort of networking
opportunities were available, and what he thinks of it.
Marks explains what an IATA Hackathon is, how
long they tend to last, why Awesome Trip was taking part, and what
kind of solutions they worked on at the Hackathon.
As a major part of Awesome Trip's business is
student travel, we also discuss the latest trends in the student
travel market, what Awesome Trip's festival is all about, and what
coach travel has got to do with it.
Mark shares his thoughts on what young
travellers are looking for these days and how technology has
helped them to explore cities in ways that may not have been
possible, or advisable, in the past.
Awesome Trip has built a widget that helps with
carbon offsetting. Mark tells us what carbon offsetting is, why it
is important, how the three lines of code that they've written can
be inserted into an airline's booking system, what it does and
what options are available.
Steven asks whether more regulation is needed
when it comes to carbon offsetting so that travellers can have
greater confidence that the money they are putting towards it really
is going to the initiatives outlined and not being used for other
things.
All
that and much more in the FHD video and podcast below.
