World Travel Market 2018 - What Can You
Expect? HD Video Interview and Podcast
[HD video and podcast
below] Exclusive HD video interview with Mr. Simon Press,
Reed Exhibition's Senior Exhibition Director - World Travel Market
London.
In this interview, filmed at Reed
Exhibition's offices in Richmond near London, England on 27 July,
Steven Howard of TravelNewsAsia.com asks what sellers, buyers,
trade visitors and media can expect from this year's World Travel
Market (WTM) in London.
We start the interview discussing the hugely
successful Arabian Travel Market which took place at the end of
April in Dubai, before moving on to talk about one of the world's
most popular and important travel trade shows, the WTM.
With only three months to go until WTM 2018
delegates start arriving in London for the show, we ask Simon how
many exhibitors this year's event has attracted, and which areas
of the world have increased their participation.
We also talk
about the registration process, which has only just
opened, and
you will discover why it opens so late and how Reed are this year
giving delegates the option of using their social media channels
to register.
We discuss how important all the forums and
seminars that run alongside the event are to the WTM's continued
success, and how Simon responds to those potential sellers, such
as hoteliers and others, that question the need of travel trade
shows considering how technology has evolved in recent years.
“Content is key, it is another value, an
opportunity to learn. It offers a silver bullet of information to
take back to their businesses that can help to evolve their
company. They want to be given opportunities to find new ideas,
opportunities to do business,” Simon said. “There is a shift in
demand for what brands want to achieve. There is a value to be
there [trade shows / WTM], it depends on how they want to
represent themselves. We are giving them the opportunity to get
that value through different channels. It is not just stand
space.”
Simon also tells us what media can expect from WTM
2018 and we ask how many buyers the show has attracted this year
and where they are from. We also discuss what Reed is doing to cut
waste at the WTM and to encourage delegates themselves to be more
environmentally-friendly. All this and much, much more in the
video and podcast below.
The WTM 2018 will take place at ExCel in London
from 5-7 November.
