Thomas Cook China, a joint venture between
Thomas Cook Group and Fosun, is expand its own hotel brand
to China, in a partnership with DreamEast
Group, a leading tourist resort development company listed in Hong
Kong.
A 260-room Sunwing family resort will be
developed as part of the second phase in the
million-square-metre family holiday destination in Jiashan, near
Shanghai.
The project will be the first hotel to be created and
managed by Thomas Cook China specifically for Chinese customers,
and builds on the popularity of the two Sunwing hotels in
Thailand, Sunwing Kamala Beach and Sunwing Bangtao Beach, where
Chinese customers now account for almost 40% of total bookings.
Sunwing Jiashian will join a large theme park,
theatre, family resort, signature restaurants as well as extensive
waterside living when it opens in summer 2020.

Hotel Management Center in DreamEast Group said, “We

Sunwing Family
Resorts has been operated by the Thomas Cook Group for more than
40 years and there are now 13 Sunwing hotels around the world. Sunwing
is one brand within Thomas Cook Hotels and Resorts division which
runs 180 hotels under 8 brands across Europe and Asia.
The move into own-brand hotels in China is
part of a wider move by Thomas Cook China to develop its holiday
offering across Asia. The announcement also follows the recent
agreement between Thomas Cook Group and Asian Trails to create a
joint venture destination management company in Thailand, which
will give Thomas Cook greater control over the holiday experience
for the growing number of its customers visiting Thailand.
