The Singapore Airshow, one of
the most important aerospace and defence exhibitions in the world,
will play host to the 6th Singapore Airshow Aviation Leadership
Summit (SAALS), which takes place at the Pan Pacific Singapore
from 4-5 February 2018.
Held in conjunction with
the Singapore Airshow, the biennial Summit is jointly organised by
the Singapore Ministry of Transport (MOT), the Civil Aviation
Authority of Singapore (CAAS), Experia Events, and the
International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The
Summit gathers key stakeholders in aviation, including top
government representatives, civil aviation authorities and senior
executives of airlines, airports, aircraft manufacturers and air
navigation service providers to exchange valuable insights,
network and strengthen the nexus between government and the
aviation industry.
This year, these top-level
government and industry decision-makers will gather at the Summit
to focus on “Reimagining Aviation's Future”.
SAALS 2018 will seek to address both the
challenges and opportunities arising from the continued demand for
air travel, and provide a platform for aviation stakeholders to
chart a sustainable approach to supporting future growth in air
travel demand.
Mr Kevin Shum, Director-General, CAAS, said, “The aviation
industry is at a crossroad. While the industry is expanding
exponentially, opening up opportunities for economic growth and
businesses, these developments also bring about immense challenges
and complexities. Aviation leaders must make the right choices
today to create the right pathways for a sustainable and brighter
future for aviation. The SAALS will provide a timely platform to catalyse critical conversations among the movers and shakers in
global aviation, bringing them together to reimagine aviation’s
future and unlock its full value.”
Shared Focus on
Technology Innovation
Additionally, the two co-located
events at the airshow will feature a strong emphasis on technology
innovation: The Singapore Aerospace Technology and Engineering
Conference (SATEC) 2018 will focus on “Shaping Aerospace Through
Innovation”; while the A*STAR Aerospace Technology and Leadership
Forum (ATLF) will explore “The Impact of Technology and Innovation
on the Aerospace Industry”.
Now in its eighth
edition, the Singapore Aerospace Technology and Engineering
Conference (SATEC) is held
in conjunction with the Singapore Airshow, and is a platform for
researchers, aviation operators and aviation engineers to present
and discuss key developments and advancements in aerospace
technology and engineering.
The A*STAR Aerospace
Technology and Leadership Forum (ATLF) will see leaders from major
aerospace companies convene for an inspiring technology convention
in Singapore. Eminent speakers from leading original equipment
manufacturers (OEMs) of commercial aircraft, engines and
components, as well as aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul
(MRO) companies, will share their insights on the directions of
research and development in the aerospace industry.
“The shared focus at this year’s Singapore Airshow Aviation
Leadership Summit, Singapore Aerospace Technology and Engineering
Conference and A*STAR Aerospace Technology and Leadership Forum
highlight the critical importance of addressing the impact of
technology innovation on the global aviation industry,” said Leck
Chet Lam, Managing Director of Experia Events. “It also highlights
the Singapore Airshow’s expanding role as a strategic platform to
support regulators, airlines, manufacturers, entrepreneurs and
other key stakeholders in charting our industry’s future growth.”
Singapore Airshow 2018 will be held from 6-11 February
2018 at the Changi Exhibition Centre in Singapore and is organised
by Experia Events.
