Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort has launched
an educational programme designed to teach local schoolchildren
about the critical importance of environmental preservation and
sustainability.
Under this valuable new initiative, a group
of fourteen children, six parents and four teachers from Koh Phi Phis
LaemTong School visited the resorts new Marine Discovery Centre
to learn about the islands underwater environment and meet with
its resident marine biologist, Mr Kamolwat Napadolrungrueang.
During the visit, Mr Kamolwat explained all about Koh Phi
Phis vibrant marine world, the delicate balance of aquatic
ecosystems, and the damaging impacts of pollution and debris.
The
kids were also able to feed four different species of clownfish in
the educational and entertaining session.
Following this
initial visit, Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort and its Marine
Discovery Centre will welcome regular groups of children from
LaemTong School. This forms part of a long-term programme to boost
understanding of sustainability among local residents for
generations to come.
Recently launched, the innovative
Marine Discovery Centre houses a series of colourful, interactive
displays that explain the life cycles and behaviours of many local
marine species. This unique attraction also operates a special
programme to re-introduce clownfish and bamboo sharks back into
the regions waters.
