SkyTeam has developed a series of digital maps to
help customers breeze through its global hubs, as it continues
investing in technology to enhance the airport experience.
From
check-in and departures right through to baggage collection, the
interactive maps provide customers with a detailed view
of their surroundings via their phones.
“Too often the airport experience can be
stressful because customers are rushing through an unfamiliar
environment, taking away the enjoyment of traveling,” said Perry
Cantarutti, SkyTeam’s CEO. “Reaching for our phone to find the way
is now second-nature and our interactive airport maps will help
ensure a more seamless and relaxed trip through the terminal for
our customers wherever and whenever they fly.”
Available for iOS and Android, the new airport
maps will be available on the free SkyTeam app for all the
alliance’s 39 main hubs, including co-location terminals and the
seven airports with SkyTeam-branded airport lounges: Beijing,
Dubai, Hong Kong, Istanbul, London Heathrow, Sydney and Vancouver.
Highlights include:
· Time management – helps customers
understand where they are and where they need to go in the
terminal buildings, helping them to get to their departure gate
with no need to rush, allowing more time to explore the terminal
offerings and services.
· Fast finds – the interactive layout helps
travelers quickly locate the airport lounges, a last-minute bite
to eat or a souvenir to take home, with ease.
· Less stress – maps give customers confidence
to navigate the airport like a pro for a more positive travel
experience, especially important for passengers with connections.
· Familiarity - using their phones to guide the
way eliminates reliance on airport signs, particularly useful if
they are not in the customer’s own language.
SkyTeam’s 20 member airlines can also use the
map technology and integrate it into their own travel apps.
