Austrian Airlines has launched flights between Hong Kong
and Vienna.
Austrian Airlines will offer flights from
Hong Kong to Vienna throughout the entire year with up to five
flights per week, operated with Boeing 777 aircraft.
The duration of flights from Hong Kong to
Vienna, at a distance of more than 8,700 km, is 12 hours and 30
minutes.
“For many years Vienna
has ranked among the world’s most liveable cities. Its cultural
scene is firmly established at the international top table, and it
is also one of Europe's most important business hubs. These are
all factors that are valued not only by the local population, but
also by international business people, students and the more than
six million tourists who visit the city each year,” said Norbert Kettner,
Vienna Tourist Board Managing Director. “Direct flights
between Hong Kong and Vienna will provide even more positive
stimulus for the capital. The new route marks another step towards
realizing our 2020 tourism strategy which will see the addition of
20 direct flights to Vienna from major cities worldwide – thanks
in no small part to the first-class support of Austrian Airlines,
which has been our most important strategic partner for 14 years
now.”
Austrian Airlines is part of Lufthansa Group, which operates flights to its major European hubs from six cities
in Greater China,
namely Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Qingdao, Shenyang and Hong
Kong.
For example,
Lufthansa offers daily flights from Hong Kong to Frankfurt and
Munich. SWISS also operates one flight each day to Zurich.
“Austrian Airlines new flights complement the current offer by
Lufthansa group in Greater China. With over 90 weekly flights,
differentiated schedules and three diversified onboard products,
Lufthansa Group becomes more attractive to the local market,” said
Dieter Vranckx, Vice President for Lufthansa Group Airlines Asia
Pacific.
