Starwood is set to expand its portfolio of St.
Regis hotels when the brand opens its first property on Langkawi
Island in Malaysia on 6 April 2016.
Located approximately 20 minutes from
Langkawi International Airport, The St. Regis Langkawi will
feature 85 suites and 4 water villas, each boasting views of the
Straits of Malacca.
“St. Regis is a game-changer to Langkawi’s
luxury tourism offerings,” said Stephen Ho, President, Asia
Pacific, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. “Its rich
heritage, refined sophistication and bespoke services, coupled
with Starwood’s strong membership loyalty programme Starwood
Preferred Guest (SPG), will enhance Langkawi’s efforts to become
an international nautical holiday destination and gathering
place of affluent global travellers.”
Owned by Integrated
Nautical Resort Sdn Bhd (INR), the resort is a joint-venture
between Rajawali Group, Malaysia Ministry of Finance and
Langkawi Development Authority.
Guests at The St. Regis Langkawi will be
able to indulge in a range of specialty massages and well-being treatments, crafted to pamper and allure their weary senses in
the Iridium Spa.
Other resort amenities will include five F&B
outlets, a swimming pool, an 100,000 sqm swimmable natural
saltwater lagoon, and a gym.
The hotel also has function space and access to expanded meeting
facilities at the ultra-modern Langkawi International Convention
Centre (LICC).
“Langkawi is emerging as a
world-class luxury destination,” said Tan Sri Peter Sondakh,
Chairman of Rajawali Group. “It is among the world’s best islands,
and we feel that it’s a great opportunity to introduce the St.
Regis brand and its uncompromising services, offering bespoke
service to worldly, well-heeled travellers.”
The
St. Regis Langkawi will join a growing portfolio of over 30
St. Regis hotels around the world. The resort will
also further strengthen Starwood’s footprint on the island,
where the company currently operates four properties under
Sheraton, Westin, The Luxury Collection and Four Points by
Sheraton brands.
Starwood is on track to add eight more hotels
in Malaysia in the next
four years, including The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur and W Kuala
Lumpur.
