Compass Hospitality has signed a deal to manage
the historic Hawkwell House Hotel located in the conservation
designated Iffley Village in the City of Oxford, England.
As part
of the Cotswolds region, the hotel enjoys a picturesque setting in
South Central England with rolling hills that rise from the River
Thames.
Located within 3 acres of landscaped grounds, the hotel has 77
guestrooms and suites in the main hotel building as well as in the
adjacent Elm House, which was once the home of Antarctic explorer
Francis Bickerton.
Decorated in English designs,
the guestrooms and suites are charming and reminiscent of English
country homes. Outside, the hotel grounds and the neighborhood of
stone and brick houses along tree-lined streets evoke a sense of
tranquility and gracious living.
The Iffley Blue Restaurant serves a variety of British local favourites and Oxfordshire
signature dishes. In
the afternoons, traditional English afternoon tea service is
enjoyed indoors and outdoors.
Four meeting facilities cater from 10 to 200 persons,
while an expansive lawn has been the mainstay of the hotels celebrated
outdoor weddings as the hotel numbers as one of few licensed venues in Oxfordshire to hold civil ceremonies.
The world
renowned University of Oxford, colleges and libraries are located
about 15 minutes away by car from the hotel. The medieval
buildings, many in use since the Middles Ages, are as much tourist
attractions as they are for the scholastic achievements of
graduates and scholars passing through their doors
Shopping and
entertainment abound in Oxford with the enchanting Covered Market;
high-street shopping in Oxford City Centre, Westgate Centre,
Clarendon Centre as well as in countryside Bicester Village; and
the 160-acre Cotswold Wildlife Park.
Hawkwell House Hotel is the 7th hotel in UK to
be managed by Compass Hospitality. The groups portfolio now comprises
47 properties in Thailand, Malaysia and the UK.
